Lu Xiujing, born in 1942 in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, graduated from the China Academy of Art in 1967, majoring in landscape painting. He received direct instruction from Gu Kunbo and Lu Yanshao, and was influenced by such master artists as Pan Tianshou and others. A former executive vice-president of the Xiling Academy of Calligraphy and Painting in Hangzhou, he is currently a national first-class artist and a member of the China Artists Association.
Over his 50-year creative career, Lu has developed a unique artistic style characterized by a blend of powerful and mellow brushwork. He participated in national exhibitions early on and held solo exhibitions in the UK and the US. In 2018 and 2019, he held exhibitions at the National Art Museum of China and the Zhejiang Art Museum respectively.
His representative works include East China Sea Fishing Village and The Great Wall, which are collected by many prestigious museums and institutions in China and abroad.
